One of the most important steps to engaging in therapeutic work is feeling confident that you connect with your counsellor. Please feel free to contact me and I will happily have a chat with you and provide any additional information about the services, including a discussion of your or your child’s needs, and to ensure that Parent Infant dyadic psychotherapy is the most appropriate service for you.
Professionals working with children are welcome to call me directly to consult about potential referrals.
For GP's referring families, please note that Medicare Rebates are available under Non-Directive Pregnancy Support Counselling.
Please reach out at eszter@bringingupbaby.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Infant mental health is a beautifully unique way of working with families in the perinatal period.
Infant mental health clinicians are not only skilled at supporting parents, but actively include your baby in the therapeutic service.
I join you as you wonder and make sense of your baby’s behaviour and communication and support you to better understand and think about their temperament, development and deepening your bond.
Some common reasons for referral include (but is not limited to)
- Unsettled babies
- Toddler behavioural difficulties
- Traumatic pregnancy/ delivery
- NICU and special care debriefing
- Adjustment to parenthood
- Difficulty bonding with baby
- Postnatal depression and anxiety
- Unexpected diagnosis in infancy
- Support for babies following a NICU admission
- Grief and loss
Are some of the common referrals I receive, but please do not hesitate to reach out if your reason for seeking help has not been listed - it’s impossible to cover everything 💕
